In 1800 Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton

   stayed at the Star Inn, when they made

   a surprise visit to Merthyr, to see the 

   mighty Cyfarthfa Works where his

   cannon were cast.

The Carmarthen Arms (Left) and the Bluebell Inn (Right).

Described as a 'Throttle Valve' in the main road into Merthyr Tydfil, and demolished to improve traffic access to the town.

Caedraw roundabout in the early 1970's.

The new Caedraw Flats in the foreground, the Taff Vale (Plymouth St) Goods yard,

the River Taff running down the middle, Rhydycar stadium on the right  and in the

right hand distance, the Willows Gas works.

Lower High Street.

This photograph shows a Rhondda Bus for Cardiff, 

exiting  Picton Street on to Lower High Street, (opposite the Ex Servicemen's

Club),  and just about to pass Breeze's Garage.
