John Street

Merthyr Tydfil

John Street in the 1960's.

Station Approach.

Towards the centre of the photo is the original W.H.Smiths. (see sign above canopy),

now the Station Cafe. On the very left is the side aspect of what became ,and still is, Burtons.

Burtons once had two shops in town ,the other one was in the building that Currys now occupies.

This scene has remained almost unchanged for a hundred years.

Station Approach.

On the left hand side of the photo is the original W.H.Smiths. (see sign above canopy).

Now the Station Cafe. The house in the background was the Stationmasters, recently demolished for the Tesco development. Just look at the height of the telegraph pole at the side of the house.
