Approach.
Towards the
centre of the photo is the original W.H.Smiths. (see sign above
canopy),
now the
Station Cafe. On the very left is the side aspect of what became ,and
still is, Burtons.
Burtons once
had two shops in town ,the other one was in the building that Currys now
occupies.
This scene has
remained almost unchanged for a hundred years.

Station Cafe. The house in the background was the Stationmasters, recently
demolished for the Tesco development. Just look at the height of the
telegraph pole at the side of the house.

The Merthyr Times Offices.
This is
located at the current Post office. The picture is taken from the roof
of the
railway station. The wall at the bottom of the picture still stands
today.
