The Triangle - The Night Before Demolition.

Douglas Simpson took these photographs on Sunday 11th December 1977.

Demolition commenced on Monday 12th December 1977.

The Lost Communities of Merthyr Tydfil:

Cyfarthfa Castle Museum and Art Gallery are looking for help from the Merthyr Tydfil Community for their upcoming exhibition ‘The Lost Communities of Merthyr Tydfil’. The exhibition will tell the stories of 5 Merthyr Tydfil communities that have all but disappeared from the map: the Triangle, Pantywaun, China, Caepantywyll and Pontygwaith.

Central to this exhibition are the stories and memories of the people who lived in these communities. The museum is looking for people who lived in, or who are descendants of people who lived in these areas to get in touch with any information, stories, photographs or objects. The exhibition will be held at Cyfarthfa Castle Museum from the 23^rd June – 30^th August 2010. Please call Michelle Lewis on 01685 723112 or email museum@merthyr.gov.uk
