Penydarren Pits Platform

The building you see in the centre of the picture is a shelter used

by colliers catching a train at Penydarren Pits Platform. The train

is heading towards Dowlais. On the left of the picture is the top of

the Bogey Road (why was it called that?).Penydarren Pits were

about 3/4 of a mile away in the valley leading to Bedlinog.

They produced coal for the Dowlais Works.
